On July 11, 2011, another thread was started on Topix - Beckley community forum. It was entitled Raleigh sheriff's deputies to stand trial in 2006 fatal shooting.
This thread was deleted from the Topix website.
Here is what Okey had to share in his first post.
Okey Mills: You won't read this in the Ragister Harkle -- but other news media are covering it: Raleigh County sheriff deputies John Hajash and Greg Kade along with Raleigh County Sheriff Danny Moore and Chief Deputy Steve Tanner, will stand trial on allegations that the two deputies failed to follow proper procedure the night Robert Webb was killed at his residence in Cabell Heights, Beckley. Kade ordered a cease-fire after he saw that Webb did not have a weapon in his hands. Hajash realized that Webb's firearm was near his feet. Webb appeared to have already died, Hajash said. The deputies secured the scene and called for an ambulance. Mary Webb went outside at one point and, apparently seeing the body in the driveway, asked the deputies, Who shot who? The deputies told her to go back into the house, and waited for the ambulance to arrive.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Mary Webb by her lawyers Mike Olivio and Travis Griffith, paints a different picture. The men never announced themselves as police before they opened fire, the suit states. Instead, Hajsh and Kade rushed toward Webb in order to close the distance between them, and fired their weapons after they had apparently startled the man into scrambling for his own. The suit also claims that a neighbor made the original complaint that Webb was firing his gun at his house by calling dispatchers on a non-emergency line. The complaint was classified as a non emergency nuisance call the suit states. They didn't have to kill this man. There is a lot more to the story than the Sheriff's Department would have us believe.

After attending the trial I wanted to share what I had learned about Rob's death and the sham of a justice system we have in Raleigh County, WV.
The thread was deleted in May 2012 after over 2400 posts.
My first post began: My name is Ronda Watson and I was Rob Webb's friend for about 35 years. I traveled from across the country and attended every day of the civil trial that was held in July. I was shocked by what I heard and more shocked by the Not Guilty verdict. After returning home I located court documents online that prove that Raleigh County is being run by a Gestapo. I realized then that the citizens of Raleigh County deserve to know the truth about what happened to Rob that night. I have paid .08 a page for the documents that I have retrieved. I will share them with anyone willing to learn the truth. Deputy Kade and Deputy Hajash arrived at the intersection of Old Eccles Road and Cabell Heights Road at 1:09 am on July 4, 2006. They left their vehicles at the intersection and walked 20 ft. away from their vehicles and returned to get Deputy Kade's tactical shotgun. They stopped at a pine tree next door to Rob's house and observed Rob walking peacefully without a weapon in hand for a couple minutes and then walked the rest of the 3/10 mile (1687 feet) to Rob's driveway, shot him dead and radioed for EMS at 1:12 am. So from their service vehicles to Rob's house; 3/10 mile, stopping along the way for several EOC transmissions, watching Rob for several minutes and then shooting him dead in less than 3 minutes.
I challenge anyone to go to the scene and try to do all that in 3 minutes. Impossible, considering that the average human's walking speed is about 3 miles per hour. Walking 3/10 mile at 3 miles per hour nonstop would have taken 6 minutes.

On July 5, 2006, an online forum thread was started on The Register Herald's website with a screen name of wvgal. By early September 2006 the thread had been deleted from the newspaper website.wvgal:RE: http://www.register-herald.com/local/local_story_185223921.html. If this story is reported correctly it is filled with so much saddness. For years, WV's have shot guns into the air at New Years. In recent years we have learned that what goes up must come down (MythBusters and other shows). If this story is correct I am so sorry for this family to do what WV's have done for hundred's of years to end in such tragedy. My heart aches for everyone involved.
