WHY did they have to sneak up to his home? I would have trusted living beside Rob Webb-in fact I would have felt safe knowing he was next door-these people on here that are putting him down-they feel guilty--guilty for his death (as they should) The people that called 911 on him that night probably didn't know it would lead to a death. Now they have to live with that. Also to the person that had the nerve to say that the police was called there for domestic violence--that is absolutely a lie--probably from the same neighbors!!Will Mrs. Webb win this case--probably not because of how dirty the law is in Raleigh County-They could never give her as much as she deserves-she lost a good husband and a wonderful Father-someone that never failed to help anyone he thought needed help. Robb knew more about weapons and safety then all the police put together--sure he had drank--how many of you all don't drink on a holiday--birthday. Robb Webb was worth more then to be killed by two police officers that didn't know how to do their job. BTW--check it out--a few months after Robb was murdered-the police had a stand-off with some guy on C&O Dam road--he has holding his wife hostage in their home---did they go in shotting--No--they talked him out--noone was harmed--So lets say Robb was being disorderly (which he was not) when they arrived. Why didn't they pull up at his drive-way---lights flashing--Robb would be alive today. Some of you people make me sick. Are you all so naive to really believe that police officers can not be corrupt--that they don't all stick together-and lie for each other. Go ahead --tell me how they risk their life all the time BS--they know what their job is before they accept it. Robb Webb was murdered just like Chuck Smith was murdered--only difference---Robb was drinking ---Chuck Smith was drunk and buying drugs--they both are dead. Robbs name gets muddied--Chuck Smith becomes a hero--More BS.you said that right I agree 100percent

From reading the posts of Linda, it appears she has her mind made up about the incident. No amount of proof or other physical evidence will change her mind. It is sad when one is blinded by preconceived notions and subsequently displays such a negative opinion of the police. For those that see, no proof is necessary. For those that don't see, no proof is sufficient.

It's not that he was there for any kind of life saving measures or anything, he himself stated that he is only called to a scene after death has been declared. The state ME didn't state the deputies did anything odd at all. He was a rather impartial witness. He stated the facts as he found them. Two fatal pellet wounds to the head from a single shot from the shotgun and one fatal 40 caliber bullet wound through the aorta. He also stated that either wound was fatal by themselves, let alone in combination.

Kade is listed as a former deputy on some news outlets because we are going off of what the reporter can scribble as quickly as possible as they sit there and then decipher when they get back to the office. They are not allowed recording devices so we must rely on notes and recollection of a lot of information flying around. LOTS of mistakes have been made by reporters since this started 5 years ago.
115. For Sure - One thing is for sure. Sheriff Tanner and the rest of his deputies have a good understanding of how many citizens do not bow and cater to his shiny badge. It appears there is a sizable element of folk who are sick and tired of the Raleigh Co. Commission, co-defendents - people are sick of you also.
116 meeeeeee - Tanner wasn't the sheriff when this happened. By the way, it doesn't remove the fact a grown man, drunk in his underwear, at 1:00 in the morning, was firing an assault weapon, outside his house. The officers had no way of knowing if he was shooting in the air, at the neighbors, or at his own family! I guess law enforcement should have just let him continue shooting and then added up the collateral damage when he was finished? Boy, we sure would have cried foul then, wouldn't we?

If any one like myself that has been involved in a firearm fight (for your life) these are not realistic options.

Mr. Webb is fortunate he hadn't been shot before. He rode an ATV, gun on top, into one woman's yard and said ,"Come here. I have a present for you. He told another he hated society and he'd have law enforcement running with their tales between their legs". In many neighborhoods, he'd have been dead long before the police showed up!! D

Now you know why so many posters are upset about this incident. So let me get this straight....only if the deputies were being fired upon first would you deem it necessary/acceptable to shoot back? The deputies don't/didn't have to wait for him to fire first. When the deputies felt that their lives or the lives of others were in danger of serious harm or death they were permitted to use deadly force. You don't have to be fired upon to feel in grave danger. When he turned around and shouldered that cocked and locked Ak-47...the deputies had the jump on him and shot first. Let's say he didn't have a rifle-but instead something that didn't shoot bullets: a knife/sword/hatchet. Would it have been any less dangerous-no. Police presence, blue lights and loud speaker do not defeat a drunk man with a gun that shoots 7.62 ammo. A shotgun n handgun do. You don't bring a tazer/siren/blue lights/tear gas to a gun fight.

First its his right to own whatever type of gun he wants but with rights you have responsibilities. You can not danger people and shooting anything that close to houses are dangerous period. Second drinking and firearms dont mix when you involve those 2 things bad things happen. We dont drink and drive cars because its affects our judgement. I imagine its the same with weapons. He put himself in a bad situation by the choices he made that night. The deputys got that call. During the drive there their mind had to be racing and assuming the worst. Cops always see the worse. A ak-47 is scary and any person seeing someone armed with such a weapon or any weapon for that matter would be scared. Im not saying anyone deserved to die but if I drink and drive my car and wreck and kill myself or others I chose that. Is it terrible yes are people sad yes but it happens everyday. Did the people killed deserve that of course not but sometimes bad things happen. Everyone on here could see an accident and we could all have different opinions on how it was handeled because of our preception. I am sure Mrs Webb is hurt, im sure her children hurt but if my family was the officers responding to that call I would have wanted to hear they fired first. Good or bad about the 2 officers very few people can take a life and be ok about it. I dont think thats the case for these 2 guys. Mrs Webb is now a single parent, she is angry, and worried like all moms or dads would be. Regardless if he was a good or bad husband she loved him, she stayed with him. When someone dies we all want to blame something for the reason. Its her right to question what happened but I dont believe the police officers did anything out of cold heartdness and this suit shouldnt go anywhere. Its sad and instead of blaming and arguing we should pray and support the kids left and pray for all the people suffering. The officers and their family included. To me this was just a case of incrediable bad luck, a tragic accident, but the county is not to blame and money should not be paid out. There are no right answers to this situation.

Faced with a similar situation, most would cry like a little girl. Bottom line is, police can do nothing right in their eyes. Nothing is ever good enough for them. Collateral damage done by allowing this drunken idiot to continue his rampage could have had deadly consequences to INNOCENT people. THEN the cops would have been derelict in their duty for not stopping the fool beforehand. Cops can't win, can't tie and can't even quit the game.B.S. 3/4 of the cops are dirtier than dirt.

Amen! You said it all!
147. haha - Why don't You go tell them to their face instead of a nameless website.
148. RMN - Not guilty !
149. yea - No comments since the cops were found Not Guilty?
150. meeeeeeee - Well, I guess a jury of local citizens didn't believe the police were in the wrong. I guess, according to some posters, that's all due to corruption and crooked police. What a waste of taxpayer time and money! Moral: Laws are in place to keep citizens safe. If you violate them, you may pay the ultimate penalty!
